Low Calorie Crab Cakes

Crab_cakesWhenever you use Lo-Dough in a recipe you know it’s going to be:

  • Low calorie
  • Healthy

It’s always a good start. I start by thinking “what am I going to have with my Lo-Dough?” And then a recipe begins to form in my head. I then think about what’s in my cupboards, how it will work with the Lo-Dough and in what form. Do I crumb the Lo-Dough, keep it whole, spice it up, what flavours do I want to add etc. I then envisage the texture, the flavour and how it will interact with other foods. Generally these thoughts are in my head on waking in a morning! When I get up I know exactly what I am going to do. That’s how my breakfast evolved this morning!

This is a very simple no fuss recipe that’s ready in minutes, low in calories and very tasty. These crab cakes work remarkably well with the ingenious Hawkshead Relish Black Garlic KetchupBlack_garlic_ketchup

To make these delicious Low Calorie Crab Cakes you will need

A food processor

A non stick pan

Ingredients (makes 4)

1 piece of Lo-Dough blitzed into crumb

1 small can good quality white crab meat

1 large egg

1 tsp wholegrain mustard

1 tsp lemon juice

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp parsley (dried or fresh)

Fresh ground salt and pepper

Frylight

Method

I am going to keep this simple! Simply combine all ingredients until thoroughly mixed and shape into 4 patties

Warm your frying pan sprayed with frylight over a low to medium heat, place patties in pan and cook on both sides for apx 5 mins until firm in the middle. You only need to turn them once.

That’s it! They are so simple yet so tasty and low calorie. I enjoyed all 4 for just 227 calories Low_calorie_crab_cakes
