This recipe shows how versatile the Nowt Poncy range is. I made this gorgeous meal with leftover Nowt Poncy Pizza sauce which was gifted to me for review. A couple of days ago I opened the jar and made a delicious pizza, but unless you are feeding a large family this jar will go a long way! So I was thinking what to do with the rest of the sauce.The obvious answer would be pizza but I had been meaning to make this recipe for a while so this was a perfect opportunity! With this recipe you can make it your own, add chillies to make a spicy version, add leftover cooked chicken, prawns etc. The choice is yours.
To make this basic Shakshouka you will need:
An oven proof dish
Pre heat oven to gas 6, electric 200, fan 180
Your leftover Nowt Poncy L’amore e pizza ( yes, I insist you make a pizza first!) – I had 3/4 of a jar
1/4 red pepper chopped into apx 1cm SW pieces
1 large tomato chopped as above
28gms diced chorizo
Pour your sauce into your ovenproof dish add the chorizo, tomato and peppers
Place in the top of the oven for apx 20 mins until bubbling in the centre. With a spoon push the chunky vegetables to the sides. Break your egg in the centre. Place back in the oven for 10-15 mins until the egg is cooked. Your egg may form a crust as in the picture but if you remove it from the oven as soon as the crust is formed then your egg should still be a little runny. Serve with crust bread or any other type of bread to dip. I had a tortilla wrap with mine.

If you are on Slimming World you can omit the chorizo to make it Syn Free otherwise you will need to syn it according to the brand. Mine was 2.5 syns – please check own syn values to protect your own weight loss journey.
