Slimmingworlddebsx_homemade_sausagesWell this mornings creation is a resounding success! A homemade 1 syn or 53 calorie sausage that actually tasted better than any sausage I have bought recently! Soft and slightly springy, meaty, healthy and tasty. They held together perfectly without any tough skins and were easy to make. Low_calorie_homemade_sausagesThis recipe will work with chicken, turkey and pork and I am so happy I decided to give these a go! The conversation between myself and Ken went like this after cooking them. Ken had already had his breakfast.

Me: Ken, would you like a taste ?

Ken: Ok, lets have a taste

Me: What do you think?

Ken: How many did you make?

Me: 6

Ken: They will be good for breakfast tomorrow then

Me: Oh, I guess you like them then!

Ken: Well you know breakfast is my favourite meal, they are one of your best creations!

I guess Ken has laid claim on them. Breakfast is his favourite meal of the day and for him to accept them for breakfast is a massive coup as he won’t eat low fat sausages of any description, he hates the supermarket brands, turned his nose up at Porky Lights and is so so particular, so here is the recipe! To make these delicious Slimmingworlddebsx homemade sausages you will need

A food processor

A meat chopping board

A bowl

A non stick pan and spatula

IngredientsMakes 6

100gms less than 5% fat minced beef

80 gms baked beans with some of the juice drained off

60gms wholemeal breadcrumbs

50gms finely chopped onion

1/2 tsp onion salt

4 twists of Meat seasoning ( see photo below – I get mine from B&M)

Salt and pepper

Frylight for cooking


In a food processor combine the onion, mince, and baked beans and blitz until smooth. You may have to scrape the mix off the sides a time or two until it’s mixed thoroughly.

Tip into a bowl. Add the meat seasoning, breadcrumbs, onion salt and fresh ground salt and pepper and mix with the back of a spoon until thoroughly combined. Divide into 6 equal size balls

Shape into sausages simply by rolling with clean hands Slimmingworlddebsx_homemade_sausage

To cook, place in a heated non stick pan. Spray the sausages with frylight and cook on a medium heat for apx 10 mins until thoroughly cooked. Serve with breakfast accompaniments of your choice. I went with a side of beans – well the tin was already opened! Enjoy!
