I love salt and pepper flavoured food. I always feel like it’s from a takeaway like Salt and Pepper chips or Salt and Pepper Ribs. Today’s challenge was to incorporate that flavour into a substantially filling pizza that was very low syn but tasted amazing and indulgent. Lo-Dough is perfect for that at only 39 calories a piece and so versatile! Low calorie bread alternative
I won’t waffle on as it’s all about the food!
To make a delicious Salt and Pepper Spiced Beef Pizza you will need
1 piece Lo-Dough
For the base sauce combine
2 tbsp tinned chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp tomato purée
1/2 tsp dried minced garlic
For the filling
1 green pepper finely chopped
1 red onion finely chopped
150 gms less than 5% fat minced beef
For the spice blend combine
2 tsp five spice powder
1/2 to 1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp coarse ground black pepper
1/4 tsp chilli flakes (optional)
1 – 2 tsp sweetener
For the topping
70gms grated Protein Cheese ( I used Eat Lean)
You will also need
1 cal spray oil ( I used Butter Frylight)
Preheat oven to Gas 7 Electric 220, Fan 200
Using a non stick pan sprayed with frylight, very lightly your piece of Lo-Dough to crisp up slightly
In a non stick pan sprayed with 1 cal spray oil add the chopped pepper and onion and fry until very slightly softening. Add the spice blend and fry for a further minute taking care not to burn. Set a third if this mixture aside. Add the mince to the pan and fry until well browned and cooked. Apx 5 minutes
Lay your fried Lo-Dough onto a baking tray and spread evenly with the base sauce
Spoon the minced beef mixture on top of the base sauce and pile to the edge spreading evenly.
Top with the grated cheese. Use half of the peppers and red onion saved and sprinkle on top – make sure the base is completely covered.
Pop the pizza in the oven on a top shelf until the cheese has melted and started to turn golden. Enjoy!
