Sweet Chilli Five Spiced Gammon 

This a recipe from way back when I first started creating recipes to share. This is one of my absolute favourites. I have updated the recipe as it was in my old chalk board format !

Try this delicious homeroasted Gammon – just 3 syns for all this!!

It’s so good I have just made it again and had great insta love from those of you who have tried this since I first posted the recipe on Instagram ❤

To make Sweet Chilli Five Spiced Gammon you will need


1 x 1.3kg Lean unsmoked gammon joint

2 peeled and quartered onions

1.5 litres diet ginger beer

4 tbsp sweet chilli sauce ( 4 syns)

1 tsp Chinese Five Spice powder

2 tbsp White wine vinegar

1 tbsp Sukrin Gold ( you can buy this in Holland and Barrett, from Amazon or direct from Sukrin – it’s well worth it. If you are on Slimming World and count your sweetener this is 1/2 syn tbsp


Remove all wrappings from the gammon and place in a large lidded pan with the onion and ginger beer. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat, cover with lid and simmer for two hours turning over twice.

Meanwhile to make your glaze mix the remaining ingredients together in a small bowl.

Once the gammon has cooked for two hours pre heat your oven to a high heat – apx Gas 8 , Electric 230, fan 210

Place the gammon in a roasting tray and baste with the glaze using a brush.

Place in the oven and baste every 10 mins using the juices and any leftover glaze. Keep repeating until golden. Apx 30 mins. Rest for 10 mins before cutting.
